Hey!  I am about to make some peacock feather earrings.  The feathers i have have these black tape-like ends on them.  Do I leave those on, or take them off and then poke a hole though the end?

thanks!

my personal inclination would be to do some sort of wire wrap around the top rather than poking a hole.  then you wouldn't see the black tape anyway

also, if you do that, i would go with copper or gold to mirror the same metalic colors in the feather.

hmmm....too bad i already poked holes!  haha.  then i had to put glue on the top to fix my broken "stems".  oh well.  my bf says they look silly on me anyway.  oh well.

Cry  don't listen to boys.  they don't know what they're talking about.  these would've been super-chic!  better luck next time.

oh...they worked out.  i'll wear them some time and i know he will like them.  he just doesn't like the concept.  he was like "it is like having a rabbit foot hanging from your ear".  and i was like...um...not exactly....

Honestly, My b/f was like this about this pair of earrings I have that are gold chains with gold feathers.  He thought they were ridiculous.  Now he loves my various pairs of feather earrings.  At least that's what he tells me.  Wink

Hi. One trick with peacock feathers is to trim them with sharp scissors around the last colored ring so they aren't so big and shaggy. Smiley

If you want to do it the "proper" way use fold over crimp ends on the end of your feathers.  Smiley
