I made this a while ago, it wasn't that hard. I found a picture I liked and brought it into Microsoft Paint and went to Image>Attributes and then clicked Black and White. It is just about the easiest way to make a picture into a stencil.

Anyway, here is the stencil I started with:

And here's the shirt:

I also made a Cat Stevens one that is similar, but I haven't taken a picture of it.

I'd love to see the Cat Stevens one.
Everyone at JazzFest had on Bob Dylan shirts, vintage ones from concents they saw back in the day, and I wish that I had thought to make one.

I love the stencil shirt!  Did you have to cut around the edges when you put it on the shirt?  Or did you just print it onto iron-on paper and put that on a tee?

I may have to steal this image...  Dylan is at Austin City Limits Music Festival in a couple of weekends!  Smiley

Acutally, I made it with cardboard before I discovered freezer paper.. So it bled a lot. If you make one, I suggest cutting it out on freezer paper and ironing that onto your shirt and then stenciling it. It looks a whole lot better. I don't really understand what you mean when you say 'cut around the edges', though.

Silly me... I assumed you ironed on this image. I didn't realize it was a stencil!

I love the idea of using freezer paper for the stencil.  What do you use for the ink?  Regular spray paint?

I just used regular black acrylic paint. If you are going to use acrylic paint, for darker colors, I'd suggest using a fabric paint medium that converts acrylics to fabric paints. (Ask your craft store about it) For lighter colors, I wouldn't bother, because you have to put so many layers on to make the color show that it doesn't make a difference.

My husband loves Bob Dylan. I wouldn't go so far as to say I love him because I am not a fan of his voice really but I think that he is one of the most awesome song writers to ever live and that he is truly a living legend.

I got married a little over 3 years ago and we spent our honeymoon watching Bob Dylan, The Dead, Trey Anastasio, Dave Matthews and some other awesome bands.
