I love my partner, it's like we're yarn ball sisters separated at birth. We both love Harry Potter and alpaca yarn. And really, what else is there?
Off to order yarn.
Who DOESN'T love alpaca yarn??  Cheesy There is an alpaca farm & shop in this area, their yarn is sooo gorgeous! Heavy and soft and silky.... mmm...

I'm thrilled about this one!  And for the added pressure, I've got Bloo as my partner!  Aiy-yi-yi!!!
Ok, off to plan and plot!!
No pressure! No pressure!  Cheesy

Nah, socks are fun!  I was a little nervous at first, and actually that's the first time I took a class (I'm mostly self-taught) because starting the knitting in the round, turning the heel, and the toe confused me big time.  But once I got past that stuff, I'm now addicted.  And then recently I bought Wendy Knits and I've got a couple toe-up socks in progress (which is nice, no kitchener stitch although I don't mind that, and then you can change your mind about the length mid-stream).

If you need help with sock knitting feel free to pm me and I'll do my best to help!  Smiley

I was thinking of using this pattern when I finally go for trying to knit my first pair of socks.  It looked interesting without being too hard (I think).

That's not a bad pattern.  Pretty close to the one I learned from.  The main difference is the heel, the one I do with top down socks is a slipped stitch heel.  Those socks are the only ones that are comfortable with my Doc Martens that rub in the heel because it's a padded heel.  It's easy too -- instead of plain stockinette on the right side you slip one, knit one across and on the wrong side, slip one and purl across.

For toe up I highly recommend Wendy's Generic Toe-Up Pattern (avail at her website, http://www.wendyknits.net )

I haven't learned how to slip stich or short row yet so heels will be hard till I do, and tube socks are blah.
