I made a red dress for me to wear for my hunny on Valentines. Technically I got to see him the weekend after though  Roll Eyes.   Anyway, I used Simplicity pattern 4224 and made it strapless. I had the worst time of my life with the elastic that goes in and I didn't get any interfacing. So needless to say, the top is kinda scrunchy and the seams are unraveling, but my husband now knows I REALLY want a serger.

Oh and this is my first clothing project in 9 years! I made a skirt when I was 13....

Onward to pics.

The only shot of me looking good in this dress... Oh, it looked good on me. I just can't take pictures of myself, lol. Sorry for the mess... I'm halfway through cleaning out my crafting closet. It looks like a fabric explosion in that room right now.

The Pattern

Me testing it out to see what it would look like in red. Hehe.

I will definitely do this dress again... next time with straps and interfacing though... Elastic is the devil.

Very pretty dress.  I haven't dealt with elastic OR bias tape, but I hope holy water will keep them away.  Good luck on your next (strapped) round of dress-making.

Oh, it's just kittens.

I want to leave this world the way I came into it:  naked, screaming, and covered in someone else's blood.

I think its pretty  Cheesy and Im glad you went with the elastic because it adds "something" to the top, does that make sense? lol Anyway, good job!
