do it anyway!!

i took a stained glass jewelry workshop recently in which i brought in several ambitious project ideas.  when i showed the teacher this pattern, she flat out told me it was too difficult for a beginner to do.  well, i hate being told i can't do something, so i ignored the teacher and scored and grinded away until i got this.  i love proving people wrong!  Grin

the coil of joy*

*the coil of joy is a tibetal buddhist symbol that represents the transformation of the three "poisons" (passion, aggression and ignorance) into three "wisdoms" (appreciation, clear seeing, and openness)

a gift to a friend to help her remember that everything is impermanent!

that is very cool! And love the symbolic nature of it too! I also love it when people say i can't do something it just makes me do it even better than I thought it would turn out. keep up the good work!

What a lovely use of glass.  I've been doing glass work for a while & have odds & ends of glass to lovely to toss.  Guess what I'll be doing tonight.  Making jewelry!!
It's just gorgeous & I like the symbolism too.  :}

thank you!

for the adventurous - the number one thing i learned from the workshop: when making stained glass jewelry *always* grind the edges flat.  it's apparently one of the only major differences with regular glass work.

my next project is going to be a dragon fly, stay tuned!

That's gorgeous...doubly so for the symbolism behind it and for the fact that you did it when you were told you couldn't!  What kind of teacher discourages ambition and creativity?
