Cute fanny pack alternative (image heavy)

I am going to Cedar Point with three males tomorrow, and it just hit me this morning that I HATE carrying bags in amusement parks because you can't really take them on roller coasters, and the ride attendents always do a lousy job of keeping an eye on them.  My mom suggested that I bring a fanny pack.  I thought she was kidding.  She knows how I feel about fanny packs.  After a few moments panic I sat down and wrote up a pattern for a cute snap-on alternative. 

Here's what I came up with:

The white band is elastic.  I used that to keep the flap closed, so I know that it's not going to come open when I don't want it to, but it's way more user friendly than snaps,  buttons or velcro.




It's kind of hard to see, but there is a seam down the middle of the credit card pocket to make two compartments for credit cards and id's



The straps go over the belt loops on your pants and then snap closed to secure the bag to your person


And they said I could never be a model.

I like it.. better than a typical fannypack anyway.  I'd love your feedback!!

I measured some money, my credit cards and the distance between my belt loops and then made it up as I went along based on those measurements and a .5" seam allowance.

I love that you made it to attach to your belt loops, instead of a belt as you would typically see (I NEVER wear belts, regardless of how many I may have!!).  Very nice!

That is completely awesome!  I can't handle carrying bags at amusement parks either....drives me nuts!  I'll have to try something like this out - the snap idea is genius!

weird, my hometown is like, 40 minutes from cedar point. but my boyfriend and i moved away about a year and a half ago (first to SC, then to NC), and i'm DYING to go to cedar point. i miss it.

thanks for you compliments! In case you were wondering, I just got back from the park, and it held up great! I was a little worried about the flap coming open on a couple of really intense rides, but it held up great and I didn't loose a thing.
