A couple years ago, my mom helped me do a 'Clean Sweep' when DH was out of town.  Nearly everything was taken out of the craft/spare room, except for the large pieces of furniture.  Vacuumed really thoroughly.  Then brought items back in and sorted them into groups.  At this time I put all my yarn into a giant Rubbermaid container, and as I did so I took an inventory - Brand, type, contents, ounces, yards, etc.  I put the list into a spreadsheet when I find an interesting pattern I can quickly look to see if I already have an appropriate type/amount of yarn.
Things have piled up since then (I got very sick and organizing was not something I could keep up with).
I have some shelves and nice baskets up, but still have more moving around to do.

ok so my husband and I bought a house and I have my very own craft room. Well it started out going to be a guest room too, but then we got a futon, so it didnt matter anymore Tongue

So my room is still a mess and I am slowly in the process of cleaning it up.

This is origionally what it looked like, the mess, the inflatable bed os on the left sitting ontop of clear tubs for extra storage, and, well.... you can see the rest.

So this is it now, I literally just took pics. I added in some more storage, there is a cabinet and a bookshelf ontop of the chest. I think I need more baskets. Also, you can't see it, but where you see the chair in the first pic, I made an "office space" I took an old table top and proped it up on 4 clear tubes, that were under the bed originally.

So this is the plan, I have our old kitechen counter in there as a table right now, but it kinda bows in the center due to weight, so I have an old white door that I am going to use instead, which is a little smaller. Eventually this will get painted fun colors. I have a boarder to go up around the room to put up. The selving all needs to be organized, still at a loss how, but it will work I'm sure. Umm, yeah, that's as for as I've gotten Tongue

Any suggestions?

Oh I put a book shelf thing in the closet as well for more storage which a lot of my shipping materials are going to go, along with my hand bags and completed projects that I am going to be selling.

I feel like a hoarder Grin
Heres the empty room with only my art table and one box in it before our things arrived.

Loooooove the spice rack idea.  They're so easy to obtain on the cheap too.  I'm snatching that up.

Y'know?  I think this may be my favourite thread on crafster.  Makes me feel so human...though I suppose that's a little schadenfreude, isn't it?

Well, I finally started implementing my idea for organizing my fabric stash, although I ended up buying the thing instead of making it (it was cheaper to buy, lol).

It was like $7 at walmart and each of 20 small pockets holds about 3 yards of fabric. The two big pockets kinda suck, to be honest. They are too wide, so they fall open when there is anything heavy in them. I switched from fabric to yarn, to take some weight out of them, and they're still falling open  Undecided  I'm thinking about handsewing on some kind of strap to attach to the backing, right above the pocket, that I can button or snap closed.

Now to find the money to get 4 more (two big closet doors, one unit on each side of each door). Maybe I'll get a walmart gift card for my birthday?  Grin

Spice racks are great!  I'm using one for some of my beads, using the empty spice bottles.

Ok here is my mess:  Undecided

I have been very very busy...  Cheesy

I still need to go through about 4 plastic tubs and organize the drawers on my bookshelves.
I also found some cork board tiles I want to hang up above my desk.
And someday I'd like to make a large cutting table with storage underneath.  Grin

Ariell - wow - your 'mess' looks better than many 'cleaned-ups'.  Grin

I really like your tile floor, too.
