You can use solvy but you also need a fabric adhesive. The paper that i get in japan already has the sticky on it. I have also been told that the solvy paper doesn't dissolve as quickly and sometimes leaves the fibers stiff. (since most yarns can only be washed in cold or warm.)

I saw scarves that were made with this technique in my local art museum gift shop. They were selling for at least $60. It might have been more though.

Anyway, I pretty much knew how to make them, but never tried. Now that I hear you describe it with the word "lace" it give me sooo many ideas!
