I think it looks cute!  I'm sorry you don't like it.  I was thinking of trying this one out too--we'll see how it goes!

I think it looks really cute and non-frumpy. Please don't take this as an insult, but I think you need a better (more supportive) bra to wear with it. It would make a world of difference.

A different bra, and I would go with slacks instead of the flowy skirt. I think it would make a big difference. I like it.

I don't get what's frumpy about it. I think it looks really nice.

I think it looks marvelous!  No frumpiness there...looks wonderful.  I think you did  a great job on it...have no idea what the original looks like but there is not a thing wrong with yours.  ~Tricia

you should pair it with a denim skirt and cowboy boots. . maybe not appropriate for work, though.  I think it looks awsome! Smiley

I like your modifications a lot!!

I'm going to have a go at this pattern too (I love Wenlan Chia's designs) after I finish the Lotus Blossom Tank from the same IK issue.

Good job!

Thanks so much for all the comments!!  Maybe I'm just being too critical. I made a lot of mods trying to make it suit my shape and wanted it to look like it did on the thin, flat chested model....fat chance lol. I need lots of waist shaping to make sure that all of me doesn't look as big as my chest or I just look like a barrel. Maybe if I try taking it in a bit with my sewing machine, I'll feel less self-conscious about it.

Singlemom - good point. I definitely would. The one I have on is a comfy-only at home sorta bra that I had on yesterday puttering around the house.

rhiandmoi - Yup, I added waist shaping and totally rehauled the neck cuz I didn't like the original neckline and was running out of yarn.

oops! almost forgot!

knitnorth - I used a mercerised cotton I happened to have instead of the cotton/silk in the pattern. And I was wary of the bulk, so I just used 2 strands instead of the whopping 4 strands the pattern called for.
