Can anyone help me identify this yarn please?  It's very soft, it looks like one loosly spun strand of wool, with a very thin strand of something black wrapped round.  I think it's maybe a dk or aran.

Please help!

Try the burn test first, on each strand, to see what the fiber content is:

and the bleach test helps too:

take notes with your tests until you figure out what it most likely is.

Then I would swatch it and see what gauge you get with different needles, and take note of that.    Then when you find a pattern you want to knit it with, you'll know if this yarn will work for it.
