I currently live in Oklahoma (yippeee.  Roll Eyes) and my family and I are taking a trip down to San Antonio to Schlitterbahn to escape this dry heat. Anyways. We'll be there for about three days and I personally need to do some school shopping. If anyone knows of any cool (and prefferably cheap) stores I would be very greatful. Thanks!  Smiley

The Yarn barn, but it isn't exactly "cheap" does have some neat discout stuff near the back though.  And for look and drool inspirations it's great.

If you can con folks into coming north to Austin there are a ton of interesting thrift places (and Hill Country Weavers) on South Congress just south of downtown...

they used to be tucked in one of the far back corners (by a bookcase full of other *not* discounted yarns)  They may have moved it or stopped the practice...it's been a while since I was there in person.

I remember getting a silk / metallic "orphan" skein for $10 (tag said it was formerly $40) and a dear friend getting three one pound balls of weaving silk for about $100 for all three.  (when they were listed as $60 each)  So my version of "discounted" may be a bit differant than yours.  It is NOT a "cheap" yarn place. Or an inexpensive place either...

I called them today to ask about the sale stuff, and she said that they were the yarns in boxes on the floor under the books in the area by the counter. She also said they had put out more yarn today.
