Three wee paintings, achieved using tiny brushes.

Here is the triptych together (in case you did not know, a triptych is a grouping of three and makes you sound fancy when you call a group of three a triptych):
]

Here are closeups of the three individually:

And what does one do with such tiny paintings?  You frame them in a big gigantic frame:

I'd post a picture of the bottlecaps next to a ruler, but I figured that bottlecaps are pretty much universally the same size, and I will not insult your esteemed intelligence by suggesting that you might not recall the dimensions of such a common object.

These are wonderful!

I used to do something similar (bottlecaps, paintings & gigantic frames...but not your particular wonderful paintings!) when I was still inspired to paint ... yours make me so happy!  Could you send me some of your inspiration in a small pouch?  Cheesy

Did you have someone model or were they wildly created in your imagination?

Oh, anyone would have found it ever so amusing to watch me paint these.  I sat in front of a mirror making ridiculous faces so that I could get the teeth just right on the yelling one, or the reflected light fall just so on the surprised face.

wow, fantastic job on the painting. I love to paint tiny things...its a challenge but rewarding when they are done!
I was going to paint something for my tiny entry, but did something non-painted. I'm glad you entered something artsy, glad to see an entry like yours  Smiley

Such great work on such a tiny scale!  I really love the last picture since it not only shows how tiny the caps are, but i love the reflection in the picture!

Amazing!  I had a paintbrush small enough to do paintings like that, but I used it too much and I didn't take good care of it so all of the bristles fell out.  Now I want to get a new one and paint tiny pictures!

These look so great! I love that you framed them and they would look great in anybody's house as decoration too. All your funny faces in front of mirrors really paid off. Smiley

are these photo-based by any chance?  i can just see you posing in front of the mirror to get the perfect faces.  i love this project, right down to the presentation.

The Ooooo-ing one makes me think of the Jackie Gleason face in the Man in the Moon intro to the Honeymooners.  Remember seeing re-runs of that show?  Anyway...that was just what it reminds me of!

Good job!  I like that they're black and white.  It would go GREAT in my house!!!!

A few questions:

-did you do anything to prepare the bottlecaps before painting on them?
-what kind of paints did you use?
-did you use any kind of sealer afterward?

I sanded the bottlecaps just a tad so they'd be rough enough to take paint.

I used acrylic paint, and gave them a quick layer of acrylic medium.

Ah, they're great! The frame is perfect for making you really want to get close to the paintings, it makes them seem very precious and important.

Thanks, everybody.

You all should try making wee paintings while you're still young and still have your eyesight.  I have no training in painting.  All it takes is some practice!
