This is my craft and I'm sticking to it!

I crocheted this tiny hat (approx. 85 stitches) using regular brown and green sewing thread and the tiniest of crochet hooks that I filed down to become even smaller.  The front view is with the flower on the side....but I got a good shot of the flower, too.

I tatted the tiny flower using a beading needle and added it for embellishment.  I'm not to thrilled with the flower...it's too large for the hat I think, but I couldn't get any others to come out any smaller and still look like a flower.

The photos are okay, but my husband was shaking my hand while he was trying to take the photo!  It was hard to get good lighting, too.  Hope you like it!

Here is the hook for those interested...you can't tell that it's really pointy.

Well, I have absolutely no experience crocheting, so I obviously don't know how insanely difficult that must have been, all I know is that is soooo tiny and cute!  And it would fit perfectly for Chuck and Russell's sister!   Wink  I love it!

That is DARLING!  My first thought is that is looks like a BLACKBERRY!  The fruit, not the tech-y gadget.

2nd, HOW did you make that without your eyes popping out of your skull?  It is TEENSY!

Thanks guys.  I didn't figure on being the first one to post...I was going to use 'strategery' and all, but then I decided, what the heck.  It's good enough!

I had thought of at least making a little bead with a face painted on it like a little doll to display it, but I didn't want it to detract from the hat itself.  I could make a little bitty hat stand out of a bead and some wire.  Could be nice.

As for how I did it...I just made that hook as tiny and as pointy as I could with a metal nail file so it would go through the stitches like a needle would have, but with the 'hook' part still able to grab the thread.  I made a flat piece, 15 single crochet stitches across, 8 rows high, then seamed it up and added the flower.

Viola!

Its a hat for a needle, in case the needle gets cold.

The flower is nice, actually.

From one crocheter to another, let me say FANTASTIC job!

I too used sewing thread for my challenge entry but my item is no where near that small.

I thought about finding a little fly and asking him if he'd like it.

Little Fly upon the wall,
Ain't you got no clothes at all?
Ain't you got no shimmy shirt?
Ain't you got no petti-skirt?
Whoo! Ain't you cold?

That's my favorite old schoolbook poem placed in the inside flap of an old-timey Reader.

Hee-hee!

By the way...I know it looks purple...but the top of the hat is actually a nice brown thread that I had.  I just liked the look of brown and green together, so that's what I went with.

Just FYI,

Thanks...Yeah, it was a challenge, but knitting it would have been harder...I originally tried knitting this with sewing needles and single strand thread...I quickly switched to crochet and a single thread!  It think it would be easier to knit with toothpicks and several strands of embroidery floss like the other contestants did.  That may be doable for me!
