So I checked out this book from my library, and started making the Webbed Feet (it's pg 103).  It's missing some pages and the page with the gauge and the types of yarn was gone, but I figured I could wing it using the needle size since I'm usually close to gauge.  Everything was going just fine.

However, I only wanted to use one type of yarn, so when I got to the webbing, since it called for a larger needle I just doubled up the yarn I was using.  This isn't working at all.

I need to do some calculations to make this work, but I can't do that if I don't have the gauge or at least the measurements of the webbing.

So can someone please please tell me what the gauge for yarn B is supposed to be?  It'd also be nice to know what thickness of yarn they used for yarn B...

thank you sooooo much!

Good grief, you are the only other person ever that I have met who has heard of this book. I must have a different edition, though, because mine has no gauge listed for this project (helpful, that!).

In my edition, A is termed "orange mohair acrylic mixture" and B is termed "yellow DK". From the photo, the A looks maybe like sock yarn of some sort. The pattern just says that it will "fit a medium sized adult foot" - no other measurements.

Sorry I wasn't more help, but that's all the book says. It's a pretty cool book, though. I got my copy at a church fete about 15 years ago, when I was a little 'un and easily impressed by a wrap in the shape of an armadillo.

Thank you so much!

How odd....well, I was using a sport weight for A, and if B is a DK, maybe if I just use the sz 6's and the same yarn I was using for the sock part it'll work out okay....hopefully it won't turn out too loose.

Some of the stuff in the book is only fit for clowns, but otherwise it's pretty cool.  I actually checked it out because of a mention here about it (might have been you) in one of the favorite book posts.  I'm gonna look for a copy to buy at rummage sales, since the people reselling it at amazon want $34(!!!!).

I have the same edition as well. Sorry there's no gauge. I guess it wasn't so important back then!

The nudity had me cracking up.

I found mine at a thrift store for $2.99. I think it's priceless! Smiley

Yes!  I was highly amused, apparently our library doesn't know its in there or they would have replaced it with a big block of wood saying if you're over 18 you can check it out at the counter Wink

Now if only there was a knitting book with naked men, I'd be a very happy camper. Smiley

I think that the funniest picture has to be the girl in the knitted underwear with that awfully strange looking man peering at her.

Either that or the angry jungle-woman.

I'm sorry ladies, but you have intrigued me too much.  Anyone want to scan and post a pic of the knitcore porn?  I want to see the knitted undies!

I would post some pics, but our scanner is broke, I'll see if I can take a photo of it for you, it's very odd,

And I love the 'armadillo wrap' and the kiddies 'carrier bag raincoat', yeah right, like I'd take my kids out in that!!  Grin  Cheesy
