Details of swap:
So we are a sickley crew, and when ilnesses and diseases flare up, it is not fun. Heck, the day to day of it isnt fun. So lets bond together to make the best of the situation. Im not going to make a mininum or max requirement for items to swap, because it will vary from disease to disease. Some ideas for "survival kits" may include:
a diary or log book for symptoms
a nice holder for any medical equiptment or medicine
movies/books/mix CDs incase you are down for the count with flare ups
recipies
and anything else you can think up

Don't overlook the common cold/flu/allergies--stuff most of us get from time to time :-/  Anyone could use a nice "get better" comfort kit for colds, etc.  I know if I was under the weather, it'd be nice to have some homemade and hand-picked stuff from a fellow caring Craftster!

Ideas:
soup/broth packets--it'd have to be the dehydrated kind (chicken noodle or vegetarian alternative)
teas/herbal teas and accessories (cozies?)
pill boxes - created/decorated
kleenex packs and cozies
knit/crochet prayer shawl, lap robe, or the like
stuffies to cuddle--or pummel, depending on your mood
stuff to read/craft while stuck in bed, stickers, cross stitch, etc

--plus I know there's plenty that could be made that is specific to a certain disease, so ask your partner about what they might want, about their symptoms, etc.

--and don't forget to get measurements for any medical equipment cozies.

Oh my gosh, if you join this swap, I would be your partner and crochet you a hat with this cashmere yarn I happened upon. It is SOOOO soft but my hair is so thick and wirey, it would be lost on my head *sigh*

I'm not trying to be rude or start an argument or anything, but having a chronic or long-term disease is considerably different than having a cold/flu/allergies.  I think that if colds and such are included (and I have no problem with this), the name of the swap should be changed.  It's difficult to explain to people who don't have chronic conditions/symptoms what it's like to feel out of sorts all the time, and I would expect that in this swap my partner would understand what it's like.  If it were just a general "Feel Better Kit" swap, it would be different.

That said, I'm not sure if I'll join, but I was just thinking about what a hoot it would be if someone crocheted me a little thyroid gland to replace mine

I do understand the difference.  I guess I was just thinking of ways to have more stuff to send.  I myself just got over a cold, and that's what got me thinking.  I understand what it is like to have chronic conditions; I was just thinking that having a cold, etc. on top of existing conditions would make it all worse.  Several of the items I suggested would be good for many conditions (pill boxes) and other items (like teas) help you feel better overall--sort of a holistic treatment, plus the added bonus of it being a gift from someone who sort of knows what you're going through.
