I just list my yarn by weight (DK, sport, sock, etc) on Word.  I put down brand, color, and weight.  (Too lazy to look up yardage!  And if I know the weight I can usually guesstimate.)  But then, my stash is pretty small.

I have a photo gallery. In the comments I list the gauge and the yardage I have. It really helps!
