Wow, that's cool! Are the pop tabs backed with anything? Cuz I could imagine that being very scratchy against the boobage, etc.

that is really cool!
did you just string the yarn through the pop tabs?
i'd really be interested in doing something like this!

Well, that just kicked my "don't throw away anything" drive into high gear again!  I would love to know how you got the rows to hold together too...  In any case, rock on! Post again when you have the whole dress!

thanks for all the positive feedback, everyone!

that is great. i have never seen pop tab creations in person...how are you holding everything together?

to make each individual row i used yarn and a variation of the tutorial at this link: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=33238.0 and then to hook the rows together...

woah!!! I'm SO hitting "this rocks" -- will you please share how you are holding them together?  I can see how each row is constructed, but how are the rows held together?

on the back, i whip stitched every new row onto the shirt.  it was basically just a matter of running the yarn through the bottom hole of the top row pop tab then the top hole of the bottom row pop tab and then back up to the bottom hole of the next top row pop tab... so on and so forth until the two rows were hooked.  all the extra yarn makes it much warmer and more comfortable.  Tongue in hindsight, i should've taken a picture of the back!

Wow, that's cool! Are the pop tabs backed with anything? Cuz I could imagine that being very scratchy against the boobage, etc.

for every pop tab you see, there's a second pop tab behind it facing the opposite direction.  since the rough edges are facing each other, it's looks and feels the same on the inside as it does on the outside.   Cheesy  oh, and  it kept it from being too see-through.  Tongue

i just finished it yesterday so i haven't had an occasion to wear it out yet... but even just asking random people for their pop tabs has been a great conversation starter.  i can't imagine what it'll be like with the whole shirt.   Smiley

"Now," said Benjy mouse, "to business."
Ford and Zaphod clinked their glasses together.
"To business!" they said.
"I beg your pardon?" said Benjy.
Ford looked round. "Sorry, I thought you were proposing a toast," he said.

I'm making one that looks quite a lot like this (which also will be a dress eventually), but it's only halfway done. Seeing yours is depressing, because I want to be able to wear mine. It looks so good. Oh well, I'd better keep on collecting tabs.
