Here is a link to the swap angel board, where an organizer in need of an angel will post. (Currently there are no angel requests): http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?board=203.0

If you look near the top of that board, there is a button that says "Notify". If you click on that, you will be notified whenever someone posts to the board. When an organizer posts for an angel opportunity that you are interested in, you pm the organizer to let them know you are willing to help out.  Smiley

Thank you! That's very helpful, though I wish the threads were a little clearer.

That's what I was looking for too. It's strangely difficult to figure out where the calls for angels are supposed to be posted. I guess because they are all moved to archive when an angel is found.

You wait for a posting needing an angel and see if it fits with what you can craft.

I'm so glad to hear others were having difficulty figuring out the Swap Angle board!  Not that I wish confusion on others, but I was feeling a little dense... yep, this is strangely unclear, despite the pages of explanation.  (I've got it now though.)
I'm wondering about the difference between and Angel & a Replacement now.

rabid.dustbunny, an angel sends to someone who sent a package to their partner but did not receive a package in return. The angel does not receive anything back from their partner, but do get FOC status. A replacement partner sends to someone whose partner dropped out of communication, so that swapper never actually sent a package. If you are a replacement partner, you will receive a package in the theme of the swap in return for what you send, and thus do not get FOC credit.

I was wondering that too. Wouldn't it just be easier to create a thread for volunteer angels? Each one submit a questionnaire (what can you craft, willing to send to another country, etc) in the thread and then the organizer can choose and contact the one they feel most fits the bill to see if they'll craft for that theme? I'd like to volunteer, but I've got so many other things to check and do, the current way of doing things is kinda complicated for me.

Creating a list of interested angels for organizers would probably end up being confusing. Some people may sign up, and then later change their minds, and an organizer could spend several days contacting people who are no longer interested in angeling, or who are no longer active on the site. Many swaps are so specialized that only a handful of people may know enough or be interested enough to actually do the crafting. (Obscure television shows or anime characters come to mind here). Some angels may prefer not to send internationally.

Although it's sometimes difficult for someone to find an opportunity to be an angel, the system we have now seems to work best. An organizer lists exactly what sort of angel they need, and someone that can help out PMs them to fill the spot. You can always set your profile preferences to notify you when someone posts on the angel board needing help, which would help you to keep track of angeling needs as they arise.  Smiley

Ok I could have sworn that angeling counts towards your 5 swap max but at the beginning of this thread it says it does not. I told someone that you should count any angel swaps in your 5 swap max but someone said I was wrong. I just want to find out what is the correct information to give out. So Does an angel count that in their 5 swap max?

Here's what was said when someone asked if they could be an angel when they were already participating in five swaps:

yes, you can. But remember, committing to this is the same as committing to a swap so if you flake you get a negative. Not that you would I just want to be clear. Cheesy
