This helped me a lot on that first round:

I'm still having trouble, but I'm a total beginner. I can't even tell you how many times I've had to pull it apart & start over! Hehe Seeing everyone's lovely results keeps me going, though. If I can figure this thing out, it'll be totally worth the effort.

I love that........it turned out really well and I actually love how the points are twisted....reminds me of a starfish instead of a "star" Very cool and I'm sure the happy parents will be thrilled!

dulcinea- to make it adult sized, you just keep adding rows around the outside. then you can make it as big as you want! the only problem is , the bigger it gets, the more time consuming it is to finish a round.

hmm, i should just start making another one so i can use up my whole stash!! then i can buy more yarn  Wink sound like a plan?

Time consuming is an understatement Smiley I finally got to the point where I gave it up and finished it off about 4 inches too small around Smiley

I love the arms too. The colour choices look really nice too! One day I'll make one of these....and figure out how to make the tips curl! Cheesy

Thanks, that did help.  I think on my 15th try I finally figured it out - the original chain is one of 5 loops.  The other 4 loops are made using dcs.  *whew*

I adore this beyond belief...I may try to make one as well for my daughter...her middle name is Starr, so we've gone a little crazy with stars.
