So my mom is addicted to quilting & had been bugging me to try it.  I started last fall sometime & just finished recently.  My mother actually did the "quilting"part since she has a long arm thing.  I pieced it all together.  So here it is..

This shows the back...& the design my mom used to quilt it all together.  I think she called it stipling.

It was kinda fun.. although the length of time it took almost did me in. Might have to try something smaller next time. (This one is queensized!)

OMG!!!  I guess quilting runs in the genes, that is amazing!  I've really wanted to try, but knew that I would get started and never finish because of what a daunting task it is.  Congratulations, it's beautiful!

Gorgeous!  I love it.  Did you go pick out all the purples or did you swipe a lot from your mom's stash?  I do that often enough when I need a lot of one color...lol  Feel glad that your mom had a long arm to do the quilting part...I'm working on a queen sized right now...quiltling it on a regular machine...and it's the part that really kills you.

Wow, AliBeachGrl, that is a fantastic quilt!

I love how the colors blend together so well - it's quite the kaleidescope!

Thanks for all the compliments!!!  You makin me smile.  Grin

which pattern did you use for that quilt? it is gorgeous!!

My mom called it a String Quilt.  You take a 1 1/2 inch strip & sew it on a square of interfacing (the non-fusible type) & then just add another strip beside it & another, etc.  Then you sew the blocks together & opposite directions so you get the "x" pattern instead of just diagonal stripes.  Good way to use up small leftover pieces.

Which to answer opheliaspins's question, I was like a packrat checking every scrap bin & odd fat quarter for monthes & I definitely rummaged through my mom's stash.  She even has a couple of quilting groups she is a part of & they meet once a week, they gave me their left over purple pieces.  I ended up with more 1 1/2 strips than I really needed.  Maybe I'll make some pillow cases or something.

That is goooooorgeous! The idea if quilting has always kind of intimidated me... I'm so sure I would mess it up halfway through. Excellent job! (Though I think I might be partial because I adore pretty much anything and everything purple.)  Smiley
