Hello all!  This is my first post so I'm quite nervous.  My name is Jie and I'm a self-taught, southpaw crocheter.  I joined this community because this is the only place that I can truly indulge in my passion for all things related to crocheting.  There's only so many times I can ramble on and on about the latest yarns, fabulous patterns, current w.i.p without having my family and friends roll their eyes in boredom.  LOL!

Here are just some of the projects I have finished over the past few years.  Happy viewing!

*************************************************************************

This is a cardigan/bolero/shrug (can't decide what to call it) that I crocheted using a doily pattern I got from the internet as the starting point.  I just expanded on the size of the doily by increasing the hook size and adding more rows.  I got the inspiration for this project from the circle coat that was quite popular a while back.  I used Red Heart's TLC Baby yarn.

Baby shower gifts for a dear friend:

Pattern:  Soft & Sweet Book 0136 by Coats & Clark from the "Little Cherub Set"

Out of all the baby blankets I've made this is my favorite.  Pattern is called "Sweet Dreams" and can be found in A Year Of Afghans 1999 by Leisure Arts

Booties...both patterns were found on the internet.

Sweater & cap patterns found on the internet.  The cap was my first attempt at knitting.  Not too bad eh?

Thread Projects:

I made this doily as a wedding present for a close friend's mom.  I didn't want my friend's mom to feel left out at the bridal shower so I made her this mother-of-the-bride present...she loved it!

As soon as I found this pattern on the internet I fell in love with it.  Incredibly easy to make with maximum "wow" factor.

Thread coaster...made six of them and gave it as a gift.  To this day the recipient refuses to let anyone use them or even touch them because she's worried they're going to get damaged.  LOL!

My biggest project to date.  The pattern originally called for 117 squares but I increased the size to make it big enough to cover a queen size bed.  The total number of squares came out to 143...not including the countless hours of weaving in ends.  It was definitely a labor of love but I doubt I'll ever make another one again.  Too much work!

Pattern is from A Year Of Afghans 1999 by Leisure Arts and it's called "Daisy Delight"

My goodness!! What a treat for the eye and a great way to start my weekend on Craftster!!  Those crochet sneakers are the cutest thing ever!!!  But your cardigan is to die for--it is absolutely beautiful!! I certainly hope any recipient of your gifts appreciate how much time and effort you took in making them!!  Stitching is lovely, colors are wonderful!

I think you just have a natural talent for knitting and crochet!!  Hope to see more of your stuff!!

LOL...that was the same reaction the father of the baby had when he saw the mini-Chuck Taylors.  He wants me to make him a pair in his size!

OMG...totally have flashbacks right now. Ha ha!  I feel your pain but the end result will be so worth it.  Definitely post pictures of your afghan when it's done...I'm sure it's going to be lovely!
