X-mas gifts for snooty family members Helppppp...

 i need some ideas to make gifts this year (trying to save money ,arn't we all ) and most of my family is really cool about homemade stuff but my sis-in-law is so snooty argggg. i need some gifty ideas that will go over well with the snobby sort. helppp any ideas guys?
i am trying to start early so i can have everything done by x-mas.

Not knowing what your skillz are or her interests, I'd suggest:

rubber stamped stationary sets/blank greeting cards for her to use
bath accessories
candles
monogrammed anything, esp. fleece blankets
personalized cds of her type of music (can't go wrong with classical if she's snooty)
jewlery you can make
family scrapbook page about her and her hubby?


And remember, your gifts are not Home-made, they are "Artisan crafted!"

ty, i am learning knitting and crochet. i am pretty crafty but i have hit a big wall when it comes to her . see she isnt rich but has to have best of everything i swear she is nuts. everything has to be PERFECT or she isnt happy and will let you know it  . awhhh family gotta love-em. lol

What about an afghan or something like it in her home's color scheme? Big enough to hide minor imperfections, and there's plenty of time, plus its good practice for your hookin'!

The best advice I can give you is make something with alot of love and screw her if she can't see what a wonderful thing it is to have someone care enough to make her something. You can't please everybody- especially the ones who don't want to be pleased.

Last Christmas I made my  SIL a little personalized keepsake box with a picture of her new baby on the front. I just took one of those cheap pine boxes with a hinge that you can get at Michaels or anywhere and stained and varnished it up. It looked like a million bucks after that. Then I attached a piece of polymer clay that I had transferred his picture on to. Cheap, easy and I wasn't there, but my brother said she cried when she opened it.

I second the candles idea. Handmade candles are more expensive in the store, which you could point out.  Heh.  Homemade soap is a good idea, too. And super-easy with that meltable glycerin stuff.

I find that really uncrafty people sometimes don't like crafty gifts, but - boo to them! ( I like all gifts )  Some of my ideas would be - Pajama pants.  easy to make, and fits a lot of different sizes,  mitts - goes with Christmas, and they got lost so often it doesn't matter if you have a mazillion pairs, a quilted Christmas stocking stuffed with little useful things, like candy, and socks...........sca rves are always nice as well.  Be proud of whatever you do, and then it won't matter.

What are her tastes?
Is she trendy? Classic?
What kind of jewelry does she wear? Does she have political loves or aversions? Would she like the soldered microscope slide pendants/earriings? http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=39105.0 You can put all kinds of images or messages in those....

An excellent idea would be to give her a kit to make her own whatever (and give her lessons)...then she might more nearly appreciate what she is given.

You know, my sister is like this. I just don't make her anything. I buy whatever I give her. You'll likely save yourself a lot of time and stress, plus you won't be crushed if she turns her nose up at the store bought item like if she did the same to something that took a lot of time. If are set on making her something, I recommend that it be nice, but not time-consuming. Again, for your end of things. I only spend my time crafting gifts for people that will appreciate them.
