Armadillo Beer Can Holder

When I was about 12 or so, I got my dad an "armadillo beer can holder," which is basically a novelty cozy they sell in my hometown of San Antonio, Texas. My dad loved it, thought it was funny and has used it with his nightly bottle of beer for the past 16 years. So, this year, on Father's Day, I decided he might need a new one.

I made this pattern up myself. I think it came out pretty well, although it definitely looks "hand made." I think if I make another I'll definitely work on the shaping of the head more and do something different with the eyes.

Basically it's a rectangle with 9 raised ridges to represent the bands on an armadillo's shell, and then I added a tail and head.

L.A. does not have armadillos, but we do have possums! And they usually have much the same fate that you say armadillos have in Texas.
