My 2 year old (!!!) LOVES Finding Nemo.   (He says Momo.  Too cute. Grin )  So for his birthday cake for on his birthday (which is today) I made a Nemo cake.  (He gets a Blue's Clues one for his party.)  So...Nemo.

I went online and found an image of Nemo, then kind of looked back and forth from the monitor to the cake and drew it with a toothpick.  It's not great, but Elijah knows who it is, so I must've done something right, right?  lol  After his dinner tonight, I'll try to post an action shot.   Grin

Thanks for looking!!

ETA:  BTW, the white stuff in the bowl is cornstarch - for smoothing the icing.  I just looked at the post, and realized it looked kind of bad. Shocked  lol

What a great job!!!   Not everyone can copy things like that!  You have a great artistic talent.  I see that in everything you do.  (No, I am NOT prejudiced!)    Wink  Roll Eyes

Yes you are, Mommy.

Yeah, Duncan Hines can really make a mix.  Wink  It was too hot for me to make that one from scratch.  His party one will be, though.  I have to bake that one tonight.  Unfortunately, it's hotter tonight than it was on Tuesday, when I baked the other one.  Roll Eyes  Ah, well.  lol

LOL! I love the cake and the action shots! Next time, you can print your image as an outline on regular typing paper. Cut it out, and lay it on your dried cake. The icing needs to be set a little or you'll pull it off. Trace around the paper, take it off and fill in. You can also cut your "stencil" into pieces for more detail. Such as the face, then the body, then arms and legs. Its really easy! I did a scooby doo cake like that and it only took me about 20 minutes for the whole thing!
Another way to transfer that is super easy uses wax paper. Cut your image out from the middle of the paper leaving the edges intact. Lay it on the dried frosting and add a dollop of frosting in the middle of your stencil. Carefully spread it close to the edges of the paper. When you get to the paper, put some icing onto the paper and smooth it to the middle of the stencil. Carefully peel up the paper and now you have an iced shape. Fill in with detail.
Good luck on Blue!

Thanks for the pics, Mom, and thanks for the stencil tip, Teapot!  I'll post Blue when I finish her!  (I have the Wilton shaped pan, but they're no fun to decorate...)  I was thinking of figure piping Blue, but now I want to try the stencil... lol  I'll figure it out when the icing is made...Smiley

You are a good Mom.

Great job on the cake..and the corn starch to smooth the icing is intriguing..didnt know you could do that.
