This is a hat i just made for my son, it's kind of chunky and uneven, but it was my first time attempting to crochet from a pattern, and I guess I used some pretty thick uneven yarns. the second one i made a few years ago for my other son, without a pattern, but i can't really remember how i made it so even and smooth?

Those are both very cute.  It looks as though the "chunky" hat would have come out smoother if you would have used a less chunky yarn.

I think both of them are awesome with each their own likeable qualities. The chunky one has a quirky nature look to it. Very fall, veggie, nature inspired looking. The second looks perfect and oh so soft as if crocheted with Chenille. Very winter, symetirical almost like a shadowy, dark snowflake.

I finally updated my profile info!
