I love it! I have been looking for a bikini top that has a lot of great shaping but couldn't find one that fit right. I think yours would be perfect and I can't wait for the tutorial! It looks great.

i havent finished the black one yet, and i will include the way to assemble it in a different post because i haven't quite figured out the best way to do it. really, you could just chainstitch two strings to tie in the back. but basically, to make the two traingles:

i casted on 40 stitches with #8 needles and pretty chunky yarn. i'm a B cup, or a small C. To make it smaller or larger, just make sure that you decrease the number of cast on stitches by TWO.

So the stockinette doesnt curl up at the sides, i don't knit or purl the first stitch in a row. i simply move it to the empty needle and continue on knitting.

row 1: Purl
2: Knit 17, knit 2 together, knit 2, knit 2 together, knit 17.
3: p
4: k16, k2tog, k2, k2tog, k16
5: p
6: k15, k2tog, k2, k2tog, k15
7: p
8: k14,  k2tog, k2, k2tog, k14
9:p
10: k13,  k2tog, k2, k2tog, k13
11: p
12: k12,  k2tog, k2, k2tog, k12
13: p
14: k11,  k2tog, k2, k2tog, k11
15: p
16: k10  k2tog, k2, k2tog, k10
17: p
18: k9,  k2tog, k2, k2tog k9
19:p
20: k8  k2tog, k2, k2tog, k8
21: p
22: k7  k2tog, k2, k2tog, k7
23: p
24: k6  k2tog, k2, k2tog k6
25: p
26: k5  k2tog, k2, k2tog k5
27: p
28: k4  k2tog, k2, k2tog k4
29: p
30: k3  k2tog, k2, k2tog k3
31: p
32: k2  k2tog, k2, k2tog k2
33: p
34: k1  k2tog, k2, k2tog, k1
35: p
36:  k2tog, k2, k2tog

at this point, there should be 4 stiches left on the needle. work 35 rows in stockinette, or a chain, depending on what you'd like. these will eventually tie behind the neck.

knit the other triangle the same way.

You did a great job, I really like it. I have been making bikinis all summer in both knit and crochet with various different yarns. (my current fave. 'Espirit' from Elann...stretttcchy!)

I find that doing all 'k2tog' decreases tend to slant to the right and mess up my shaping..so I always 'ssk' for my left side decrease. I never thought of doing my decreases in the middle!
I,ll have to try it now.

*Thanks for the pattern*  Wink  I always appreciate new ones.

i wove in yarn under the traingles, and turned those into chain stitches to tie in the back. i also sewed the two traingles together for a few stitches near the bottom. and the two triangles tie at the top behind the neck.

this is explained very poorly, if you have questions, i can answer, or take more pictures.

Oo..I don't know how to knit, and don't know what those instructions mean at all, but I want to learn so badly now. That's so adorable, I want one so badly! I'll have to hang on to these instructions and stuff for when I learn.

question:

did you line it with anything? because i don't know about you...but even stuff i knit with like..size 4 needles seems like it almost might show a bit too much skin and i knit really tight. and it doesnt look like yours is indecent at all...so yah....and chance you'll make matching bottom?

a few summers ago...i crocheted a bikini top (made up the pattern myself) because i could make the stitches a lot tighter than i could with knitting. but yah...great work. i never made bottoms though because the top took FOREVER (i used really skinny yarn and really tiny needles) and because i couldnt find a pattern that didnt show half of my butt. lol. i suppose i would just have to make my own since that's what i had to do with the top...
