Sooo, my boyfriend's dog, Sedar, was put on a semi-intense exercise regimen (more like, Doggie Boot Camp) by his younger brother. (Sedar's a little overweight and definitely could shed some winter pounds)... After several long walks, his paws were pretty beat up and bleeding in some spots. Of course, like all dogs do, Sedar wouldn't stop licking them and kept hobbling around the house.
I made him a little doggie paw cover from remnants of an old t-shirt (brown) and some (blue) rubber no-slip padding. I included a little drawstring casing and some velcro to keep it snug, but not too tight. It seemed to slip down a bit when he tried to run, but it was *PERFECT* for keeping him from licking it so it could heal at nighttime while we were sleeping. Since I'm still new at posting, here are links to the pics...

Those are really great!

Please, please, please stress to your boyfriends younger brother that he needs to start slow with the exercises.  If poor Sedar's paws are bloody from too long of a walk, he's not doing him any favors by keeping on with such activity.  Thank heavens he has you to be the soft touch.  But really...baby bro needs to relax a little, eh.

Yeah, he backed off as soon as he noticed his paws. He certainly didn't intentionally work him to hurt him. We didn't walk him for days and just let him run around the backyard for a bit on grass instead of cement. We're still not sure if they were injured because of excessive walking or if he walked in glass or something during the walk. We live in a college town and there's quite a bit of glass on the sidewalks and in the streets. It's sometimes really hard to avoid.

Oh, that is so good to hear!  I live in a broken glass area too, and it really bites.

Sedar is going to be the best dressed dog on the block with his spiffy new footers!  You did so good on those, and your dress on the other board is really lovely too. Grin

glad the feet are better, Sedar wouldn't be part doberman or rottweiler would he, he looks like a sweetheart whatever he is and to wear that bootie he must be much sweeter than my pups

He is supposedly a mixture of doberman, lab, and other breeds we're not sure of. He was an abandoned pup Sad so we're not 100% sure.
