I took two of the paper plates that we bought for the shower and double-sided-taped it to the bottom of a plain (clear) juice glass then set it in the middle of my platter.  I put homemade cream cheese mints on the top plate and my homemade chocolate truffles on the bottom platters.  It looked nice, I thought!  (I used blue icing for the truffles that had nuts in them! Ha-ha...oh the irony!)

I put the truffles in those little candy cups, of course!

They are gorgeous, and what a good idea for displaying them. The mints look wonderful, and the truffles look so professional!

Thanks...my hubby took the pics and he didn't really get the side view of the glass separating the two plates, but you get the point.

I really love hosting baby showers!  I don't have many close friends, so I have only helped with two of my hubby's cousin's showers so far.  These pics are from the last one (last month).

I've thought about starting up a catering business just so I can host these types of things...maybe someday when the kids are grown!

Thanks for the input.  I wish you could taste these mints...even people who don't like mints kept going back for more!  They taste like the regular buttermints, but they melt in your mouth and have a touch more peppermint flavor.  I make mine with confectioner's sugar and NO granulated on the top like some recipes call for.  I don't like ANY graininess.  I guess I'd better stay on CRAFT topics, and not get off into FOOD topics or we'll have to be suggesting that they add another board!  I don't EVER want to get into trouble for posting off of topic!  (I'm a goody-two-shoes!)  Grin

LOL...what a great sense of humor!  You did a fantastic job.  I agree with Ezri_B...your truffles look so professional.  I love the little touches as well...like how you put the blue mints with the truffles that had the yellow icing on them and the yellow mints with the blue icing.  Very nice!

You should definitely start your own catering business someday...I'd definitely hire you.  Smiley

Thanks...everyone at the shower thought that was humorous, too.  Some of them looked shocked that I would make that subtle distinction between the two kinds.   Roll Eyes  But, I've been married for 7 years now, so I felt that I could use a little 'adult' humor.  Tee-hee.

That all looks great!   Cheesy   The mints make me homesick!  There is an elderly lady there that makes those same kind of mints.  Cheesy

Here is the link to the recipe.  I'd normally put this under the food thread, but the pictures are already here, so...http://www.astray.com/recipes/?show=Cream%20cheese%20mints%20%232

Enjoy!
