i've done a bunch of refitting tee reconstructions
but have never tried to change a shirt into something else
so i'm really happy this turned out nicely

i got a mustard plug tee at their concert the last time they came down
but i didn't like how it fit  me
so i changed it into a halter top
i'm wearing it to the next ska show around here
which is this thursday, i can't wait!

here's the picture of the shirt on mustard plug's shop site

and the finished product!

hey everyone, thanks SO much for all the compliments
you guys are sweethearts
anyways, here are a few questions that people have been asking about the shirt, and my answers  Smiley

1. how you made the shirt?
here's a really simple & probably not-so-clear "tutorial" on how i made the shirt, b/c i don't really follow any patterns and wing pretty much everything i make haha  Undecided
cut off the neckline & sleeves of the shirt
get a strip of whatever material you want for the border & strap
& sew it on

2. how did you make the gathered part in the middle?
you just sew a straight line of tiny, spread out stitches where you want it to bunch
then push the fabric together until you get the desired effect

3. what kind of bra do you wear with this kind of shirt?
you would want to wear a halter bra/one of those convertible ones where you can change the strap positioning
the straps of the shirt cover the bra straps perfectly & the bra doesn't fall down like some strapless bras would, so it's perfect!

Awesome job!

I would love to know how you did that.

it's extremely easy to figure out:

cut off the neckline & sleeves of the shirt
get a strip of whatever material you want for the border & strap
& sew it on

That looks a lot better than it did before. It's lovely.

I get the concept of making it, that's not too hard, but how do you do the ruching/pleating in the middle? I've never tried and I'm not quite sure how to do it properly.

thanks, hun =]
this was the first time i did the little pleating in the middle, too
so i just sort of winged it but it worked out, so huzzah!
