yellow triangle shawl and blue mesh poncho- my first!

so the other day i was in michaels and was suddenly struck with the urge to make something other than an amigurumi or a scarf, which is pretty much my limit with making crochet stuff.  i found this leisure arts booklet "wrapped in style" and liked two of the patterns and thus bought the supplies and made them...yay my first actual projects!!

mesh poncho made with lion brand wool ease in blue mist.  took about 1.25 skeins.




ha! you can see my cat in that last one.  she is sitting on the tub.

trellis shawl made with lion brand microspun in buttercup.  i was not sure about the color when i started, but i really like it now.  i thought it was going to take me 3.5 or so skeins and it took about 2.25 or so.  i checked my gauge!   




has anyone else made this shawl pattern?  i didn't totally understand the ending of each row so i fudged it.  it's like "skip next sc and next 2 chs, sc in next ch".  instead i just did an sc in the third ch of the last ch-5 loop.  you do the shell at the beginning of each row.

Lovely projects!!  I actually have almost the exact same triangle shawl pattern but instead of shells, there is fringe...

The yellow color looks great on you and should be very versatile!!  I think I am going to try to make this for a swap partner....

yep, buttercup.  it seemed really bright in the skein, but when it is made up, it is much warmer.
