I need help with this veggie bib!

I can't figure out what color to make the garlic head.  White wouldn't show up, and tan or brown would look blah compared to the other colors in the bib.  It would be like the right side of the bib didn't show up for the party.  I'm thinking of making it yellow, but I think it might look weird.  My husband suggested purple because we just bought a mess of purple garlic at the store, but I think that might be too much purple (I'm planning to french knot the heart with a purple variagated thread).

Help!  What color should the garlic head be?

You can never have too much purple as far as I'm concerned!  Wink

Maybe use two different yet related shades of purple? Maybe work in a bit of off-white with the purple on the garlic as an accent???

But then again, I may not be the best source of info....I thought he was an onion!  Embarrassed If you stitch him as an onion you could use green tops and make him a red onion.

Just a tip....and you may already know this but just in case.....I found that the faces, hands, and legs on these come out better if I use less than the full six strands of floss.  I tend to loose details if I use all six strands. If I use two or three I end up with MUCH more detail.

Yeah, I was thinking a brown/tannish or off-white color would be good to use. You wouldn't want a pure-white but there are so many shades you could find one that would show up. Or perhaps you could do a silver?

I did my garlic off white with accents of a tan.

I found a yellowish white in the DMC floss. I don't know how well it would've shown up on white since I put mine on a black apron... Accents in a slightly darker color would help.

Actually no...hehe, I thought it was an onion at first too.  Luckily onions and garlic are the same color.

I stitched an icky-face on him, because I hate onions, but I actually love garlic, so he really needed a yummy face.  Oh well.  Smiley

About this garlic/onion dude...
I always pictured him in a yellow-beige color with green on top....you know green onions sprouting.
