We did not do the ribbon like you did. I think that was a great idea on your part.
We added a small peice of elastic so they could be worn as rings and a larger peice to some so that could be worn around the wrist.

Yep... my friend just found one while cleaning out her grandmothers house... I think this idea goes back to the 50's.

I make these too, only I cover the caps, I HATE hot glue!
My gallery of Pincushions
Just the Bottlecap ones...

For those wanting instructions:
I have made a photo tutorial on how to make them...

As well I'll be part of a Lark book coming out in several months on creative pincushions.
Several people from the pincushions group on flickr are consulting on it for projects...

This are the easiest thing to make....My girl scout troop made a bunch by hand to take a nursing home that we were doing quilting at with the elderly.
Yours are so much cuter than ours were though.
We did not do the ribbon like you did. I think that was a great idea on your part.
We added a small peice of elastic so they could be worn as rings and a larger peice to some so that could be worn around the wrist.
You did a fantastic job on yours and I am sure your sewing friends will be so happy  Grin

I did something similar, for a group of young girls. We saved plastic lids-the kind from laundry detergent, cooking spray, ect ect. We had to keep it as simple as possible,so we stuffed full, put a circle of cloth on top, tucked it in,and glued around the inside. I think ribbon was involved-it's been a while! They looked like cupcakes. Not nearly as cute as the bottlecap ones, but the girls had fun.And something to make out of those lids after you've put the bottles in the recycling!
I just came into a small stash of bottlecaps,20 or so,and was wondering what to do with them. I think I'll have to try pincushions. I have so many tiny scraps of fabric that aren't really big enough to do anything with, but couldn't toss-perfect for this!

that's an absolutely brilliant idea. I think it's simple enough for me to want to give it a try. Thanks for sharing!
