hi, does bind-off means the same as casting-off?  that's what the book I got called it, casting-off.  It means to tie off the last row so that it doesn't unravel right??

I'm not English, but I cast off too.  Cheesy It always made sense to me. Cast on, cast off. Like wax on, wax off. (snort)

I love these gloves, but I hate to purl, so I figured out how to do them in the round with dp's like sox, which keeps the purling to a minimum.

Go around to the start of the thumb hole, then put all the stitches on 2 dp's & go back and forth in st st till the hole is the right size, then add the 3rd needle back in and continue around till the length is right. It worked well!

Should you start the seam at the top of the glove or bottom and is 2 inches always the right size for the thumb??  thanks for the pattern.

I think, after you finish knitting up your square, you can seam which ever way you want, at the top or bottom.  I would suggest the top, this way you can measure it better to where you want your thumb hole to go.  It's all very adjustable, just try to fit it as you go.
