I have searched everywhere and I can not find 100% citric acid or 100% cocoa butter.
I have, however, found Kool-Aid packets (where citric acid is the first ingredient).
As for the cocoa butter-would a cocoa butter lotion work? ie Palmers Cocoa Butter or one of those body butters that are everywhere...

Please help-I have no experience with making home beauty products and this is for a gift...I have read on craftster that I can order these things online-but I'm sort of working against the clock.

MY husband found citric acid for me in a you brew store.  Cocoa butter is found in health food stores but I recently saw cocoa butter sticks (like a gluestick) in a chain drugstore... peoples maybe.  You can substitute shea butter or mango butter or coconut oil (anything solid at room temp) if you can't find cocoa butter.

I found small amounts of cocoa butter at a craft store...I think it was either Michael's or Hobby Lobby in the soap/candle making section.

Try calling a local pharmacy.  I know that I just ordered citric acid for a lady last week (we can get 4 or 16 oz jars of the stuff).  Also, you should be able to get pure cocoa butter there too.  Just ask if they can order it from their supplier.  It'll take a day or two to get in, but at least you know it's available.

Thanks everybody! I found everything at Ellwood Thompson's (the city's hippie mart). I ended up smoking everyone I love out of the house (the smell, by the by, is still lingering-a week later), burning my hands in three places, and creating a sludge that even my dog didn't want to investigate.

So clearly I am not ready for this particular craft and I should go back to my sewing machine. But it was an experience!!!  Tongue
