this is the first quilt that i have made for me! I'm all about girly things so i'm in love with my quilt. I used two sample packs of 5 inch squares by moda and added sashings and borders. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, although of course there are a couple things i want to change. Using sample packs is probably the easiest way to put a quilt together!

here it is laying on my king size bed, the quilt is 68inch by 68 inch square

a close up of the fabric and my quilting stitches

and here is the back and the binding, the backing is the only fabric that is not part of the moda line of fabrics i used, but i think it matches pretty well and it was alot cheaper  Smiley

How pretty!  I love it!  Where did you get sample packs of 5" squares?  Do they sell them for quilts, or are they like free like paint chips?  I'm guessing they aren't free, but one can always hope.  Wink

i've only seen the sample packs at one quilt store, but i have seen them occasionally online. No they aren't free  Sad  They are exactly what they sound like, moda came out with a line of fabric, in this case it was called faded memories, and there were 56 fabrics in that line, so the sample pack was 56 squares, 5 inches each. I bought two of them, 9 bucks each, which considering the amount of fabric is a little pricey, but all the cutting is done for you so it saves a TON of time!

I'm in love with your quilt too! So fresh and pretty. What kind of quilting pattern on there? Is that a zig zag pattern?

i just used straight stitch outline quilting, i quilted a quarter inch inside each square. The binding looks a little zig zaggy, thats one of the parts of the quilt i dont like.

That actually sounds cheap, considering all of the different fabrics you got and their quality.  If you bought a sixth of a yard of each of those fabrics, you would pay so much more.

I'm still totally loving your quilt.  So sweet!  I'm going to have to keep my eyes peeled for packs of squares so I can make a quilt like this.
