Hi all!

I love Candi Jensen's crochet patterns for kids. I just bought Candy Tots and Candy Babies, and I'm going to be making lots of clothes from these books in the upcoming months. Thought maybe there were others who would like to crochetalong.

This is my first project

from Candy Tots. I have 7 of these squares done -- only 151 to go! Cheesy

I have just started the Sweet Pea Cardigan by Candi Jensonfrom Interweave Crochet and am enjoyng it very much.  It's simple to make but very cute.  I'm using Patons 100% cotton . I hope to finish this quite quickly , so will a post a pic as soon as I do.

Welcome lizzy.cos! I have that magazine too, and that cardigan is adorable.

Also, MopTopStumptown, when I started this project I did a search here at craftster to see if anyone else had made it and found yours. It is wonderful! I hope mine is as nice Smiley

Last count I had about 26 squares done. You could start to see how the back is going to look if I could get a picture taken that is not absolute yuck

Did not let lack of progress on that project, or lack of time, prevent me from starting another one from the same book

A friend and I are working this pattern together while she learns to crochet. We're doing two different colors. Unfortunately, we won't see hers here because she's not on craftster. (I don't understand it, either.)

The Sweetpea Cardigan is coming along.  I had to frog the sleeves because they were too small and do them again with a larger hook.  I think that as I got faster my work got tighter. Anyhow, now it is ready to sew up and then I can start the lacy bits.

I wanted to share my finished Sweetpea Cardigan from Interweave Crochet Spring 2006.  I actually used the exact materials suggested (a bit unusual for me) but I just liked the colors so much.  This cardigan is mostly single crochet with lace trim at the waist and cuffs plus silk ribbon embroidery.

You can find more details and pictures here: http://crochetperse.typepad.com/weblog/2006/10/sweet_pea.html

When I thought I wasn't going to have enough yarn of the same dyelot to make the whole thing, I toyed with the idea of picking a couple shades of pink to match and making a few solid squares to mix in for a more patchwork-y look. It's still an option I'm considering. Strangely enough, with Red Heart, I often have trouble finding solids that are dyed to match their ombres. Don't know why  Huh

What is the age range on this book? I have a 3 yr old but she is tiny and she has a big sister on her dad's side who will be six but she is also petite.

I just finished a second Candi Jensen baby cardi: Wrap Star from Candy Babies.  It was gifted to a co-worker at a baby shower on Friday and I got this as a response: "You knit?"  After explaining that the sweater was CROCHETED, I politely responded: "Yup."

The Wrap Star is crocheted with a F crochet hook and 4 balls of pink Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino (two more balls than were called for in the pattern - I think this was a printing error and I'm fortunate that the fiber gods were looking down on me since I found two more balls in the same dyelot).  I especially like the picot edging around the neckline and the three little buttons.

You can see pictures and get more information here: http://crochetperse.typepad.com/weblog/2006/11/out_of_the_clos.html

Your little wrap sweater is so lovely! Thanks for the heads up about the yarn amounts: that pattern is on my list.

I also did the Wrap Star sweater and matching dress (Summer Love) from the Candy Babies book
Honestly, kellilee, I am NOT stalking you!  Cheesy
and like kellilee, found that I needed 7 skeins rather than the 5 called for for both pieces.

Here's mine:

OK, I am a lurker here in the crochet forums.  These baby and toddler things are gorgeous!  (And it's funny about the lawyers kellilee)  My best friend is in the process of adopting her brother's two children (horrible story), one of whom is a just turned two year old girl.  I am trying to crochet her a hat for XMas.  Yeah, trying is the word.  But you all inspire me!

just me:

Your Summer Love matching dress is just beautiful!  Do I see some pretty pink satin lining, too?  If so, you have WAY outdone my Wrap Star.  By the way - try reposting the picture of your Wrap Star.  For some reason, the link is "broken."

Thanks for sharing!  [and I'm flattered to be stalked!]
