I've done 2 market days now and I've noticed that what I thought was going to be a hit with the buyers wasn't and what I nearly didn't bring because I didn't like very much was the first to be snapped up...

Obviously it just goes to show that taste is like your bum...divided... but still, some things get popular with the masses.

What is it you sell the most of?

These are my top earners. Felt Purses! This is not a new project so this is not really for commenting on, just to show you what sells...I posted them here when I first joined and had kinda forgot about them but they sell really well!

...anyone else like to share their trade secrets...?  Wink

Yeah, it's funny.  I find that different things will sell really well at different shows.  My biggest seller is cards, because they are inexpensive and someone can easily shell out a couple of bucks for one.

Kinda weird, but sortof on par with what scandibird was saying, the only fair I've sold at I thought I would be prepared for the cheapies, and brought a bunch of really cute bandana-scarf-headband things.  (right)  But I ended up selling only one of those, and almost all of my expensive bags!  So I guess you never can predict what the crowd is going to be like...

elizwong, nice cards. are they handpainted or printed? and are they your own illustrations? I'd love to have some cards to sell but I always find they take too long to make in order for it to be profitable... I also spend too much money on nice paper and envelopes... Have any suggestions for cheap quick cards...??

They are made of pretty nice quality paper, but relatively cheap in comparison to super fancy paper.  It's $1.50 per sheet.  I think I can get 9 cards out of a sheet.  I paint the backgrounds with watercolor, then just pop it in my inkjet printer and print out a bunch of each design.  It doesn't take very long to make each one, once I figure out the placement and get the image edited correctly.  Inkjet cartridges are of course pretty expensive, so I have no idea how much that really costs.

Thanks!  The images are all from my own drawings and paintings.  The bunny was from a Japanese sticker I had when I was a kid, the other animals are inspired by that sticker.

I just got back from my first 2 day craft fair. My Top seller was Record bowls! THe first day I only had 6 and sold out of them within 2 hours so we had to make a trip to the thrift store. EVERYONE that walked by made a comment about them. They were definitly attention getters and when I sold out of them an hour before we closed upthe second day, not so many people came. BUt those suckers (the bowls that is) did me well!

I'm glad to hear this. I was not sure whether or not to include record bows on my fair table... but now I'm going to go for it. If they don't sell, I can always give them to people as gifts or to my music teacher. Records are so cheap.
