Swap name: Aussie Alchemy

Craftster member who is organizing this swap: Jane Doe
Sign-up date range: 4 July - 12 July
Date to send item by:
crafting media sent by 15th July,
finished wonders sent back by 15th August 2006

Limited to a certain number of people? nope
Non-Au. participants allowed? THIS SWAP IS ONLY FOR AUSSIES
All ages allowed? Or 18+? Any age
Organizer is aware of current list of "suspended traders" ist and will not allow those members to participate: YES
Organizer meets the 4 conditions for swapping and will make sure that every participant meets these conditions: YES

Details of swap:

The idea is, you send all those crafting materials you've been hoarding to your partner.
Your partner uses them to craft something to your taste, and then sends the items back.
It's a fabulous type of swap because:

-it's cheap (only costs you postage and we're all Australian)
-It's a creative challenge to try create for someone else using their media.
-it uses up that crafting media you love but don't know what to do with
-you get to be surprised by what someone else managed to turn your media into
Put together a pack of crafty items, send it out and your partner will make you something from the contents of the pack and send it back.
This way you get something
a) you know you'll like, cos you picked the colours and materials
b) you never would have made yourself

This swap is open to all kinds of crafting materials, as long as we can find someone willing to use your bits. They may use them in a totally different way to you, but that's what makes it fun! eg. Jewellry makers make fabric beads and 'soft' jewellry out of buttons; Sewers stitch and create out of paper; knitters make textiles from wire etc

Specifics for this swap

-After recieving your partner's info, send an amount of crafting media (maximim 400grams) to your partner
-Using the media you recieve, craft one large (or detailed) piece and two small (or simple) pieces.
Anything else you make is up to you and your partner Smiley
-When you've finished crafting, send your partner what you've made and the extra media you didn't use. You may only keep unused crafting media if you have discussed it with your partner first

*note* There are 2 send out dates for this swap
15th July - send a maximim of 400grams of crafting media
15th August - send finished wonders and the unused crafting media back to your partner

If you want to participate, fill out and send this questionaire to Jane Doe

QUESTIONNAIRE TO ANSWER:
Name of swap   Aussie Alchemy
Craftster username
Email address
Your real name
Mailing address
What kinds of crafting media do you hope to send?
--the following 2 questions are just a guide to help me partner people. It doesn't mean you'll recieve what you list---
What crafts can you do or be willing to try? (don't be shy)
What kind of media do you enjoy working with?
Are you a smoker, have pets, or anything else that might cause allergies?
Do you have allergies?
Is there anything you particularly DON'T want your bits made into?
Anything else to add?

IF YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE, REMEMBER TO SEND YOUR INFO TO ORGANIZER VIA PRIVATE MESSAGE AND NOT TO REPLY WITH IT HERE.

Also remember to read the Swap Info Guide (especially if you're new to swapping) to find out details about participating in a swap.
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=6553.0
If you have any questions about this, do ask Smiley

After much brain pain, these are the partners for the swap.
You're all such diverse people!

Ralph <---> ecrameri
Tanza <---> Jehnaier
Jane Doe <---> jane feebles
pocketlint <---> Pinkstars69

Please send your packages using express post satchels.
The main reason, is that with express post satchels you recieve a tracking code.
For the weight of the packages we're sending, the cost difference is minimal (a dollar or two)

When you recieve your partners materials, your name will turn red. When you send their package, your name will turn green, and when your partner recieves, your name will turn blue.

Signing up now! The weight limit is a good idea, cos I sent nearly 2 kilos of stuff, and my poor partner couldn't get through half of it.
And now I can send the stuff that wasn't used- hurrah!

And here's the link to the first round gallery, so you can see how it worked the first time http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=93347.0  The results were unreal, I can't wait to see what comes out of this round!!

Yeah - I found the whole process really inspiring last time.
You really get a chance to see how creative + flexible people are when they're forced to use a certain media. Also it's so exciting to see what your stuff has been made into!

I will be watching this one as I am having a break from swaps for now.
It will be fun to see what is made.
I enjoyed the last one. I spent many hours on it, but it was worth making grace so happy. I felt appreciated. cyndi

I watched from the side-lines for the first one and was bummed out that I didn't join in - I'm pumped for this round though!

We should definitely do more Aussie swaps, the cost of postage can be so damn restrictive to send stuff overseas

Hey all - I'm pairing up people right now and I've hit a little snag in regards to kitty allergies.
Just those that own kitties - do any of you own an outdoor cat rather than an indoor cat?
I'm hoping this might help fix our problem

Thanks everyone  Smiley

Partners have been announced and are listed on the main post.
I'm in the process of PMing everyone their partner's info and putting the swap into your personal info.

I'm including this note into everyone's PM, but I'm requesting that everyone sends the completed craft package by express post. The main reason, is that with express post satchels you recieve a tracking code so we can keep an eye on our valuble crafts and nothing gets lost.
For the weight of the packages we're sending, the cost difference is minimal (a dollar or two)

Everyone's info has ben sent.

Just because we have a lot of people who are new to crafter swaps, I'd just like to remind you all that although the specifications for this swap is that you craft:
-one large (or detailed) piece
-and two small (or simple) pieces
for your partner, feel free to discuss and add to this with your partner.

Generally after recieving info, people contact their partner to discuss their swap - specific likes/dislikes, (etc) and discuss if they'd like to make more items than the swap indicates.

(Eg, you and your partner might decide to both make 2 large items and 3 small items because you're feeling inspired by the media you recieve )

Also, if anyone has any questions regarding the swap process, crafting for their partner, etc don't hesitate to discuss it here, or PM me about it  Smiley
