Hi everybody

My big sister is a vegitarean (Ok i KNOW I spelt that wrong ahem yes anyway) and she's also going to university in september.
For her birthday I want to make her a cook book lol.

If anybody has any ideas for recipes I could include that would be great. I've had a look in the past few pages and I already have a good few ideas.

Oh and by the way, she eats most vegetables and fruit, she sometimes eats fish but prefers not too.

Well, something that's really tasty is basically to do the artichoke thing.  Steam them with an artichoke steamer and have a garlic mayo dip for them.  The mayo dip's easy... basically really mince up 2-3 pieces of garlic and mix it with a tablespoon or 2 of mayo.  Add some salt and it's delicious.

Mmmm... I'll see what else I can muster up.

I'd definately recommend food.com though.  A lotta free recipies to use.  Good luck!

I have "The Staving Student's Vegetarian Cookbook" by Dede Hall (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0446676756/sr=8-1/qid=1151701490/ref=sr_1_1/102-5979492-1194568?ie=UTF8). There are a lot of quick and easy meals that don't require a lot of equipment.  I bet it's available at your local library  Wink

I would suggest searching for some simple sauce recipes (noodles got me through college) that go well with spaghetti and veggies.

I find a lot of great vegetarian recipes on All Recipes: http://allrecipes.com/

There's a great vegetarian lasagna on there!

Are you looking for things she can cook in an apt, or things more appropriate for making/storing in a dorm room?

I would just buy a book like the one above, and if you wanted to make something, maybe you could make a lot of bookmarks (!) or a small book to keep track of fave recipes on index cards.

This whole thread is cheap, easy college meals and I think at least half are veg.  I know there is a thread dedicated to veg college food, so just run a search for it.  Also the threads about veg lunch ideas would be useful.

Here's a link for one of my favorite, easy veggi recipes: http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_19535,00.html

It's called Tofu Ranchero.  I modify it a little by first cooking the tofu cubes in a little oil and throwing in some taco seasoning (I get the big container of taco seasoning @ Sams ~ I use a lot!), and then cooking the veggies seperately, also w/ taco seasoning.  Then I add the tofu back in and add the salsa.  Yummy!  I serve w/ cheddar cheesie (I'm not vegan) and diced avocado.  Everyone loves it, and I'm the only veggie I hang with.
