quickie dress that anybody can make - Infinity Dress and link to tutorial

I tried making this dress but had SERIOUS problems with the dress being WAY TOO big at the waist.  What measurement should I use?  I used the underbust divided by four method and that was HUGE!  Please help me 'cause I need this dress for Halloween!  Thanks!

I also made the waist too big originally.  For others who haven't cut the circle yet, I would recomment forgetting about measurements and just cutting it really small (way smaller than you think it should be), and then open it up and try it, and cut it bigger if need be.  You can always cut more, but if you cut it too big... you can't uncut (obviously).

I found that when i did cut it too big i would just take that all in with gathers in the waist band.  Hopefully you can salvage your skirt.

ohhh this is great! now i know what to wear for the big day

 i read all the replies (yep all 63 pages) and fell in love with the all the versions.. i love the tube top idea, it would be great to cover up sides and backs  to show off the bra. i will definetely try this with black and might make the skirt longer.

the only thing i worry about is my big stomach.. gosh i hate that..

About the 'big stomach', I think this dress would be pretty good for hiding it.  If you kind of wear the band higher up (under the bust rather than at the waist) then the poufy-ness of the skirt part will just pouf, and people will think it's the dress not your stomach... if that makes any sense.

Definitely give it a try, it seems to be flattering on a lot of different body types!

I suggest that if you have some time take a peek through some of the pages of this thread.  You will find a lot of different ways to tie this dress.  personally my favourite way is to flip the straps over my shoulders, cross, and wrap around my waist.  it is simple and quick.
