we've been talking about variations of this dress in the thread on the "infinity dress" in the designers homage area, and i was inspired to see what i could come up with.  i thought i'd post this here because it is quick, simple, and i think it turned out really really cute.  if you are interested, there is a tutorial HERE  Updated link >> http://rowena.typepad.com/rostitchery/infinity-dress.html.  as always, feedback is welcome!  (it helps me refine my instructions.  Smiley  )

thank you both so much!

bambidandi, it is some polyester knit that i was donated to the costume shop last fall.  it is similar in weight to swimsuit material, but anything with at least 40% stretch will work.

I love it... I think I want to try it!  Tonight.  And wear it tomorrow.    Grin

Out of curiosity, what is the band around the waist for?  It is just for a bit of stability?

And of course I would be the one to ask this but....  is this two way or four way stretch fabric?  Think it really matters?

the band is there because the back would have an unfinished edge without it.

i used fabric that had about 40% stretch on the cross and i cut the straps so the stretch went along the width, but i think you could use 4 way and it would be fine.

there are all good questions, i need to edit my tutorial to include this information.

You, lady, are a genious!  I have always appreciated your comments on other's projects-you seem to have so much knowledge and experience, and make it sound so easy (or should I say you are very clear in your directions), and your sewing is always beautiful and so professional looking.

I adore this dress.  I am going to be trying my hand at it as soon as I get some decent material.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Cheesy
