Oh, and did anyone make the owl???  I'm so lost!  What are all these pieces for.

The pic makes it look like it was made from three or four pieces.

What is the "bean" shaped piece for? or the large domed piece?

And the large piece on the bottom right, is that one big piece that we cut on the fold to make a triangle shaped piece?

Or do we not need any of the pieces bordered in -o-o-o-o-o-?  Maybe that's for a third owl?

You are correct. The pieces bordered in  -o-o-o-o are for a third owl as far as I can guess.

The pieces on the right are patterns for two differrent sized owls overlaid. It can be very confusing.  Pick the patterns that have the same markings on the borders.  The triangles on the right are cut on the fold.  In all you need six pattern pieces.

You need to cut 2 triangles (cut on fold),  4 eye pieces, 1 beak,  and a base to cover your gathered raw edges on the bottom of the owl.

Use felt to make the eye pieces, beak and base.  That way you don't have to worry about fraying.

they're kinda tough!  I would recommend making an eaiser project first, like maybe a felt monster or something so you can get used to constructing a little animal before you try making these.

What kind of techniques do you recommend of making something this small??? I tried making some too but they dont seem to turn out great either (I've made a couple felt monsterish things before)

I think the owl is easier to make than the bunny/bear/cat stuffies.  The only thing is you need to have some fabric glue or whatever they are called.

After I make the first owl, I decide to make more for christmas stocking stuffer.  First my first one has the blue eyes.  Well now I have 8.  My boyfriend think I am making an owl army.  Cheesy  I make the smaller size which is supercute.  I use cotton fabric for all my owls except I use gold color felt for the beak.

Here is my owl army:

My boyfriend says they look like penguin too. Smiley
