I bought a lot of this really thick and nice black fabric to make some record purses (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=16739576), but there aren't enough records in the world to use all of it. So, since I had bookmarked april_cocaine's circle skirt tutorial (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=12439.0) centuries ago, I decided to give it a try.

To cut the central waist-hole with a little accuracy (since I suck at eye measurements), I used the formula to find the radius from a given circumference, which is radius = circ / 2 x pi - as my measurement had been 30'', the radius = (30)/(6.28) = 4.7. With this number in mind, I marked several 4.7'' lines starting from the center of the fabric, like a huge & hairy asterisk. It may sound weird, but it worked wonders!

I attached the main fabric to a strip of a more stretchy fabric, which I cut from the bottom of  a never-used too-tight shirt. The next day (because I hand sewed the whole thing and couldn't bear to look to the needle anymore), I sewed a lot of black satin ribbon on the hem and over the seam between the fabrics, leaving a bit of ribbon on the back so I could finish it off with a bow. And that's it (:

Now, the skirt in all its glory, modeled by me:

and by the floor:

I really tried to take an action shot, but the only one in which the skirt wasn't just a black blur was almost pr0n, so I decided against it Wink
