Here's my latest.  I painted his beard and cheeks with liquid sculpey mixed with irridescent powder.  The centers of the flowers are glass beads as well as two glass beads for his eyes.  I tried to match the tiny blue flowers to his eyes and only used the irridescent powder on those.

Very nice... great colors too.  How big is he?  If he's big, is the back hollow or did you use an armature or something?  Is he intended for outdoors??

(more examples of leaf canes for the other thread too!)

He is a hollow form, that way he can stand upright easier.  I rolled out a sheet of clay and draped it over a tightly crumpled ball of foil and sculpted his face and then baked it.  Flowers and leaf cane slices were added and the liquid colored sculpey and then baked again.  I put on the glass beads with liquid sculpey and then after he was baked added a drop of Lock-Tite to every bead. He is intended for indoor or outdoor use.

Oh! POTSTICKER!  I looked at that picture and thought, what does this have to do with little Chinese dumplings...?  Never mind, I get it now!

BTW, I think he's gorgeous.  I'm particularly jealous of the leaf canes...

Thanks for making me think about that too - I still didn't get it but now I realize - it's like something you stick in a pot for decoration... right?

I love the colors too! He's also a lot smaller than I thought because now I see how small the seed beads are in the flowers - really cool!

Same here!  I stared at it for a moment trying to find the relevance before it hit me...

Thanks! They were my first attempt at a leaf cane, I'm not so crazy about caning and only do it when I know my design absolutely needs it.  If you look closely you'll see that the veining on one side is not running in the right direction.  I call that character and not a mess up...(right?)
I got tutorial for the leaf cane here:  http://www.polymerclaycentral.com/rose2.html
