It never has. It's not visible smoke, but it IS chemical fumes. I just turn the turbo vent on our microwave hood on (it's above the oven/stove), open the backdoor (in the kitchen) and nearby windows.
The smell never makes it upstairs and it doesn't linger long at all.

do you spray the foil with Pam or anything? or just lay out your image and put in on foil on a cookie sheet?

No spray. I think spray would probably make the beads turn funky colors with the heat or something. I've never been brave enough to try it.
I just laid the beads out in an image on the foil, baked, let cool & peeled it off.
