I don't tap dance, but a friend of mine does!  I bought the shoes last summer at a garage sale for her studio intending on painting them for a costume of Columbia from Rockey Horror Picture show.  I looked up pictures of those shoes and was really disapointed.

So when my art teacher gave us a project that was to involve shoes either as a subject or as a support, I lept at the chance. I sanded off the original polish and cut off the straps, then painted them with acrylic paints.

OOh!  that is awesome.  I love me some tap shoes.  I saw a band not too long ago that had tap dancers (as percussion) and they all had decorated tap shoes. It was great!  It's kind of hard to see them, but the ones at the end were the craziest-glitter and feathers. Smiley

Those shoes look really great! Does the paint chip at all?

was it Tilly and the Wall? If not they also have some tap as their percussion, I love it.
