I just received an email saying...

IF YOU OPENED A PAYPAL ACCOUNT BETWEEN OCTOBER 1999 AND JANUARY 2004, YOU MAY BE ENTITLED TO A PAYMENT FROM A CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT.

http://www.settlement4onlinepayments.com

I don't think I really qualify - but I know other people on here might be interested.

I got it too.  The FAQ on the website is really helpful actually.
Everyone who got a paypal account before February this year can make a claim.  You only get a share of $1m though so probably won't get very much!  I guess it depends if people can actually be bothered to claim.  I think I will.

Watch it when you follow links in emails like this.  It's better to type the address out, and also, I'd check paypal's site itself just to make sure that this isn't just some fake scam.  I got an authentic-looking email (with the right graphics and everything) from 'US Bank', and they said they'd lost my info and needed me to fill out some form.  Sounded fishy to me, so I asked someone in person at the bank about the email and they said it was definitely an imposter trying to get my info.

I got this email, but Paypal has never wronged me in any way, so I don't think it would be ethical to make a claim against them just to get some money. Same as when Blockbuster had that class action lawsuit last year -- They had never overcharged me, so I didn't claim that they had.

As I understood the LONG boring lawsuit settlement thingy - I don't get to join in because I've never had a problem with PayPal.

That's okay, I did get a check for the big CD settlement suit a while back... all you had to have done was bought a CD. I can't remember the amount - but it wasn't much.
