That is absolutely gorgeous!
So, would you be my adopted aunt? See, I'm getting married later on this year . . .   Wink
Just kidding!
But, I do have a question that may sound really dumb.  I've only started knitting this past fall and the only way I've seen afghans done is in smaller squares that you sew together when you're done.  Did you knit all the way across? How do you do that? They don't make needles that long, do they?
Seriously, beautiful work!

Beautiful and amazing!
I can't even begin to fathom the amount of work (and talent) that went into that blanket!  Dare I ask how long it took you to make?

btw, This rocks!  \m/

No such thing as a dumb question! I knitted this on a circular needle, I just turned it and knitted back and forth, rather than joining it and knitting a tube. I do nearly all of my knitting this way: Because I knit Continental style, it's easier for me than having long needles flapping around. For something this large, no matter which style you knit, circulars not only provide the length for your needles, they carry the weight in the center, rather than having it all on one needle or side. (I hope that made sense). For something narrow, like the edging (which was knitted separately and sewn on), I'll put rubber point protectors on the ends of a couple of double points and have nice short needles to work with.

Wow, it is still hard to believe you knit that from side to side.  This is absolutely awesome.  It is so beautiful!

I almost fell out of my chair when I saw this. It is gorgeous! You have totally inspired me to try and improve my knitting so I can make the Celtic Knot afghan I have dreams about.
