That is simply gorgeous. Your niece must be a very special girl to inspire such a labor of love. Beautiful work!

Holy freakin' cow. That is truly one of the most (if not the most) amazing thing I have ever seen on Craftster. I am in awe of you.

Speechless.

That's absolutely remarkable, and I can't imagine the commitment it must have taken.  You've got a very lucky (and, obviously, very well-loved) niece there.

Also, I want the garter.  Pretty!

That has to be the most beautiful afghan I have ever seen. I love your idea of putting the trees on an afghan that is a wedding gift-such a beautiful sentiment. This one's definitely destined to be a family heirloom!

Wow -- I went to get my hair cut so I wouldn't be known as the Aunt with the Bad Hair at the wedding, and come home to 3 pages of comments.... thank you all! I do know that both she and the soon to be nephew will not only like it, but understand and appreciate the work involved, which is a nice thing. The rehearsal dinner Friday is a casual, picnic-y thing, so I may give it to them then, because I'd sort of like to be there when they open it.

The garter pattern: It's a Lily Chin Wedding Accessories pattern. I know she got it from this shop: http://www.sew-krazy.com/. She didn't look closely at the pattern and thought it was crocheted, which is why she asked her grandmother to do it. Since I'd just started the afghan, I was pretty happy about that -- if she'd realized it was knitted, she may have asked me.

Once again, thank you all!
