After attending the pride parade this weekend and talking with a friend about the best way to fulfill my lifelong dream of actually being *in* the parade on my own float, I have decided to start a stitch-and-bitch group of sorts called Crafty Queer... we'll have regular (at least monthly) crafting sessions and we'll definitely have a float in next year's parade! Wink

Here's the description from our yahoo group:

Crafty Queer is a group of queer, queer-minded and queer-friendly individuals in the Twin Cities metro area who enjoy knitting, sewing, crocheting, making zines, and embroidering naughty sayings in inappropriate spaces. We are united by queer culture, and an overwhelming desire to make Stuff.

If anyone is interested, discussions have just begun about when and where our first meeting will be. Any and all peoples at any all crafting levels are welcome!

On a side note, I'm glad you posted in my thread... my gf and I have been keepin an eye on you around craftster... not cause we're creepy stalkers, but because we both need new tattoos  Grin That octopus hoodie you made was super-sweet!

How fun! One of my friends back home in Indianapolis is a parade float designer and he's also on the Indy Pride board. I love to see the stuff he makes! Yay for Pride Parades!

Ohmigod, how awesome would it be to put Float Designer on your business cards??

We've already decided that we are going to knit & crochet some rainbow flags for our float next year.  Cheesy And I'm sure we'll need folks to whoop it up with us, so keep that in mind a year from now and invite yourself to be in the parade with us! Wink

Our first ever Crafty Queer meetup is going to be July 22nd at my house. Everyone with an open mind is welcome. You should bring your project, or if you don't have one right now, ask me for ideas... I've probably even got some supplies you could use.

PM me for time & location details!

is this still happening?  i live in st. paul and work in mpls.

also:  i've started a new group blog for queer crafters.

http://queercraft.wordpress.com

and i'm looking for authors or artists to feature.

queercraft is a group blog for queer crafters to share projects, ideas, inspirations, favorite crafted items, or anything relevant to queerness as it intersects with gender performance and the politics of making/creating.

feel free to PM me here or email me at aionolit at gmail dot com.
